Why Online Dating Is Better Than Traditional Dating
The reasons online dating is better than traditional dating include it's convenient, nearly half of people on dating apps are women, and studies show relationships last longer. Let's face it, online dating is where it's at.
Online dating is the preferred method to meet women these days. Who wants to go to a bar and waste time attempting to meet a handful of women when you can meet countless women on a dating app.
If you're on the fence about joining a dating app, don't be. Here are 7 reasons online dating is better than traditional dating.
1. Millions of women use dating apps.
There are a lot of women on dating apps right now. I'm writing this blog post on 9 PM at a Thursday night in San Diego, and on Match.com, there are 137 women in the 30-40 year-old age range. The odds are better to meet someone online on a given night than at a bar, the gym, or anywhere else you may encounter someone.
According to the Pew Research Center, 30% of U.S. adults have used a dating app. 23% have gone on a date with someone they met on an app.
In the U.S., Dating Scout, an online dating review site, found nearly half of the people that use online dating are women. Rest easy, the odds are in your favor that there is someone out there for you.
2. Online dating is convenient.
Registration and profile creation on most dating apps is quick and easy. It literally takes a few minutes to get started. You load a few photos, write about yourself, and you're off to the races.
Most online dating sites are available as an app (phone and tablet). This allows you to flirt and get in touch while on-the-go. You can contact women on demand. Anytime you want, in line at the store, waiting for a movie to start, on your lunch break at work, at a restaurant waiting for your food, etc.
Also, you don't have to leave the house to start conversations with women. How awesome is that?
Online dating is also convenient because once you start a conversation online, you can quickly determine if there is a connection. This makes it easier, knowing if a woman is worth pursuing or cut your losses and find a better match.
3. Online dating is cost-efficient.
Online dating is easier on the wallet. Sure, there are premium apps like Match.com and eharmony, but there are a lot of free apps as well; OkCupid, Tinder, and Bumble, to name a few.
Don't sweat it if your dating site is pricey. It's better than going out chasing women at the bars every weekend. You have to buy drinks, possibly food, maybe parking or pay for Lyft, cover charges, etc. It can add up quickly.
Dating is cheaper when on a dating app. When you meet someone, coffee is a perfect option for a first date. Drinks at happy hour are also fine, ensuring you don't break the bank.
4. Online dating is easier for finding a suitable match.
Imagine you're at a bar, the gym, or see an attractive woman at a coffee shop. You know nothing about her beyond her physical appearance. You don't know her education level, if she has (or wants) kids, or what type of job she has. You don't even know if she's single.
Guess what? Many dating apps have filtering tools or settings showing you everything you need to know about a woman. Most women write about themselves and fill out their profile traits. This allows you to find what you're looking for, and exclude what you don't want in a partner.
And it's much easier to find what you want in a partner. Pew Research Center found, "the majority of online daters say it was at least somewhat easy for them to find others that they found physically attractive, shared common interests with, or who seemed like someone they would want to meet in person."
Sure, online dating can feel like window shopping sometimes, but you're more likely to find suitable partners faster than stumbling into someone in the real world.
5. Relationships last longer.
More and more studies are finding that couples that meet online are more likely to have a healthier marriage than couples who meet offline.
One study, Marital satisfaction and break-ups differ across on-line and off-line meeting venues, found marriage breakups is about 6% for people that meet online, compared to 7.6% for people who meet offline. When surveyed, Married people who met online were more satisfied with their relationships as well.
Another study, "Marriage, Choice, and Couplehood in the Age of the Internet," found people who meet online made a quicker transition to marriage than couples who meet offline.
6. Exposed to women outside your geographical area.
A key reason online dating is better than traditional dating is that you're exposed to more potential matches outside your geographical area. You can literally meet women 10, 20, 30 plus miles away that you would never cross paths with.
Most of us have commitments during the day. Work, school, responsibilities, hobbies, commitments are a few of the things that you may devote time to. Sometimes life makes it hard to meet women.
The huge benefit of online dating is you're exposed to more potential matches. Each dating app allows you to increase (or decrease) the distance you prefer in a partner.
7. You got options
You have options when it comes to dating apps. There are so many dating apps allowing you to find what you want.
Want a long-term relationship? You can join Match.com, eharmony, Zoosk, OurTime, and OkCupid. Are you religious and seeking commitment? You can join JDate or ChisrtainMingle.
Maybe you want something casual. You can join Bumble, Tinder, and Badoo. How about a hookup? You got Pure, Adultfriendfinder, and Wild.
You can easily find women on the same page as there are several dating apps available. All cater to different groups and preferences.
