Mingle2 Review - A Colossal Waste Of Time!
Mingle2 is NOT a good dating app for meeting women. I recommend avoiding it because it's one of the worst apps I have used.
Mingle2 is buggy, full of ads that ruin the experience, has tons of fake female profiles, and many features don't work. Don't get me wrong, there are some women on this app, but you're better off using apps like Coffee Meets Bagel, Tinder, and Bumble.
It's not all bad; there are a handful of things that are good about Mingle2. The problem is the bad ruins the experience on the app. Here is my complete review of the Mingle2 dating app.
What is Mingle2?
Mingle2 is a dating app that claims to have 39 million members. The app says it has 639,302 new members per month. I'm not sure how many of these are actual people versus fakes.
The big selling point of Mingle2 is that it's completely free. It does offer a premium version (more on that below), but the good thing is you can message as many women as you want for free.
Mingle2 is more of a casual dating app. You don't join Mingle2 looking for marriage and kids. This is an app you join looking to date.
Mingle2 registration process.
Registration for Mingle2 is quick and easy. You can sign up through your email or Google account. There is no verification to join Mingle2; you enter an email and are off to the races.
You can load a photo and start looking for women. There's no bio requirement either. You can write something in your bio or choose to ignore it.
Mingle2 does not require phone verification. This is bad, and probably the reason there are so many fake female profiles on the app. I discuss the problem below.
Mingle2 offers an app and desktop version.
Mingle2 has a desktop and an app version. The app is far superior to the desktop. The desktop version is outdated, cumbersome, and a little clunky.
The good thing about Mingle2 is it's not loaded with "extras," so it's easy to figure out. You can start liking, and messaging, women quickly.
My biggest gripe with both the desktop and app is performance. There is a noticeable lag when browsing through the features. Usually, a second or two, but there are times it takes several seconds to navigate around.
How to set up your profile on Mingle2.
You can browse, like profiles, and send messages with zero effort in your bio. You don't need a photo to do anything.
However, with all dating apps, it's important to put some effort into your bio. Fortunately, it's easy with Mingle2. Here is what you can set up for your profile:
- Photos - You can add photos to your profile directly from your phone or computer. Mingle2 allows you to load an unlimited amount of photos.
- Details - Enter your height, body type, and ethnicity.
- Lifestyle choices - Enter your marital status, drink alcohol, do you want kids, etc.
- Profile headline - Mingle2 allows you to enter a headline, so your profile stands out.
- Interests - You can write your interests (be sure to separate them by a comma).
- Description - This is where you write your bio. Mingle2 requires at least 100 characters for this section.
Is Mingle2 free? Yes... sorta.
The selling point for Mingle2 is that it's completely free. You can message whomever you want, and there's no limit on how many women you can contact.
Mingle2 now offers both free and premium versions. You can exchange messages and browse women's profiles without paying, so you don't need the premium version.
There is a premium version, MinglePlus.
Mingle2 offers a premium version called MinglePlus. The features of MinglePlus include:
- You can see who likes your profile.
- Your profile is placed at the top on search, who's online and potential daters homepage.
- You can find out who reads your message.
- Get access to "Incognito Mode," where you can browse profiles invisibly.
- Store all your messages forever - App doesn't delete messages after a month.
- Hides the ads on the app.
The features in MinglePluas are an added cost, but not necessary. You can do well on Mingle2 using the free version, so you don't need the premium version.
Are there women on Mingle2?
I'm happy to tell you there are women on the Mingle2 app. At first glance, it seems there is a huge amount of women, but that's not the case.
The bad news is there is a lot of fake profiles on Mingle2. There are so many fake profiles that it ruins the experience. I'm not joking when I say it seems at least half the profiles I encounter are fakes.
I'm guessing why there are so many fake profiles is a phone number is not required to use the app. You only need an email account, which allows for a high number of fakes.
Fake profiles on Mingle2 are easy to spot. Here are some signs the profile is fake:
- Only one profile photo.
- The woman is extremely attractive - typically young and model-like looks.
- Poorly written bio - bad grammar and broken English.
- Profiles share Snapchat, Gmail addresses, and phone numbers to get you off the app.
- The bio reads like a romance novel - Looking for a soulmate and prince charming.
If you see any of the examples above, odds are the profile is fake. Be careful when using the app because there are a lot of fakes on the app.
How to message women on Mingle2.
Messaging women on Mingle2 is easy and intuitive. Like other dating apps, you click the message icon on the app or type your message in the email box on the desktop version.
Mingle2 will suggest icebreakers you can use as a conversation starter. I recommend avoiding these as they are a poor first impression.
A better approach for your icebreakers on Mingle2 is showing genuine curiosity about the woman. A great message tip is sharing your answer to whatever question you ask a woman in your icebreaker.

Note that Mingle2 keeps messages for a month only. After that, they are deleted from your inbox. If you use MinglePlus, the messages are not deleted from your inbox.
What are some of the features of Mingle2?
Search - Mingle2 allows you to narrow your choices through their search feature. Distance and age are the basic things you can search by. There is an advanced search feature that includes body type, height, religion, ethnicity, children, etc.
Nudge - a quick and easy way to get a woman's attention, flirt virtually, or just say "hello" without writing a message.
When you view a woman's profile, you will see a Nudge Her button. If you click the button and choose one of the drop-down menu's actions, that person will receive your nudge. In turn, the member may check out your profile, nudge you back, and/or send you a message.
Instant Message - You can chat with women if their instant messages is enabled. You can see an instant message button in their profile. You click on the button, send a message, and if the woman accepts, you can chat.
Forums - Mingle2 has a very active community that you can connect with in forums. There are various categories, and you can post questions to the community as a member of Mingle2.
Mingle2 Review - Final Thoughts
Mingle2 is one of my least favorite dating apps. It's buggy, outdated, has annoying ads everywhere, and too many fake profiles. The search filter never works. Did I mention there are a lot of fake profiles on this app?
It seems for every woman that's real on the app, two are fake. I'm constantly contacted by fake profiles, which is frustrating and annoying. I can overlook an app's shortcomings if there is a large number of females use it. This is not the case with Mingle2.
I cannot recommend this app at all. Stay away from Mingle2. You're better off using an app like Tinder, Bumble, or Coffee Meets Bagel. Heck, even Hilly or Badoo, is better than Mingle2.
What I like about Mingle2
It's not all doom and gloom in my review of Mingle2 - there are a few things I like about the app. It has a quick set up time, and you can message as many women as you want for free. And yes, there are some women on the app.
Although not a "wow" factor, the forums are cool for chatting with other members about various topics. There is a lot of activity on the forums, so the community is highly engaged.
The mobile app is a better experience than the desktop version. There's not much else I like about Mingle2. Yeah, it's not a good app.
What I don't like about Mingle2
The list of things I dislike about this app is numerous. First, there are too many fake women. Sure, they are easy to spot, but it feels like 60% of the profiles I view are fake.
I am also contacted by a lot of fake women. Many of the profiles are deactivated after they contact you, but their message remains in your inbox. I can't believe the app doesn't remove the messages from your inbox, but they remain.
There is a noticeable lag when browsing the app. Pictures can take a few seconds to load while searching. I also encountered a pause when jumping around. If I jump to my inbox, it doesn't load immediately.
Women don't put much effort into their bios. Yes, there are real women on the app. The problem is most write little to nothing about themselves.
Mingle2 has a very good search filter. The problem is it doesn't work. Whenever I use the filter, I get zero results. It appears broken, so I never use it.
There is no sorting feature when viewing profiles. You cannot tell when the last time a woman was online. This is frustrating because you have to go into each profile - one woman may have been online a day ago, while the next woman was on a month ago.
