Check your bio BEFORE sending messages.
You must put effort into your bio. Before responding to a message, a woman will go through your bio with a fine-toothed comb.
Spelling mistakes, negativity, lack of effort, and clichés can spell doom to your chances. You don't want to bore women either.
Success on OurTime depends on your bio. Write about yourself in a confident, engaging way with a little humor. Don't be afraid to share your quirks - they help you stand out.

1. Focus on the woman's bio.
The best way to start a conversation on OurTime is by asking about something a woman writes in her bio. Why? It shows you took the time to get to know her. You're interested in a deeper level (beyond photos).
Believe me, when I say this, most men put zero effort into their icebreakers. Women are subjected to "Hello," "How are you," or "Hey there" as conversation starters. You won't do well if this is your approach.
Anything a woman shares in her bio is fair game. Comment on common interests. The key is sharing something about yourself about whatever topic you comment on in your icebreaker.
EliteSingles says, "Find something in their profile you both share and talk about that. This not only helps you establish your shared interests but also demonstrates that you have actually read their profile and paid attention to their hobbies."
If a woman shares she enjoys wine, ask about her favorite and share yours. Maybe a woman likes traveling. Ask her about a recent traveling adventure while sharing yours. Make sense?
2. Tell a woman she's your daily match.
One approach I like is telling a woman she's my daily match using humor. The key is I tell her that the software matches people based on their "good looks."
In the message, I tell the woman she's attractive, but in a clever way. A lot of men use the less subtle approach, "you're beautiful," "you're attractive," or tell her how hot she is. Don't do that!
Telling the woman she's your daily match because of her looks is more subtle. And it works!
I also show a little cockiness about myself because I'm attractive too. The message also highlights my sense of humor. Making a woman smile is always a great first impression.
Below is an example of this approach. Note how Lisa comments on "pool and darts." She references something I write in my bio, showing she read it. Remember, make sure you have a well-written bio.
3. Ask a personality question.
One of my best conversation starters on OurTime is asking a woman a personality question - using humor if possible. I present women with a handful of things and ask which of them she prefers.
The beauty of this message is you can select anything. Here are a few examples:
- Ketchup on eggs, yes or no?
- Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime?
- Sunday brunch with mimosas, an early hike, or sleeping in?
Here's an example; "Hi (woman's name), quick personality question... Friends, Seinfeld, or Cheers?
I love all the shows, but I can watch Friends for hours. My favorite is Joey and Phoebe."
It's important to share your choice. Sharing something about yourself makes the message more of a conversation - it's not one-sided. When you write something about yourself, women are more likely to respond.
4. Show curiosity about a woman's photo.
A good approach for your icebreaker is showing curiosity about a woman's picture. Any photo on a woman's profile is fair game for starting a conversation.
Use this approach when needed. If a woman takes the time to write a lengthy bio, you should focus on that as your icebreaker. Photos are a good option when a woman doesn't share a lot in her written bio.
One thing I like doing is complimenting the photo itself. I don't mean complimenting a woman's looks.
Stay away from complimenting a woman's looks. Never do that. It's a huge blunder because so many men like telling a woman how attractive she is.
Compliment the picture and then ask a question about it. For example, if a woman's on a hike, compliment the view, then ask where she took the picture.
Maybe a woman is kayaking. Tell her you like that she's active, then ask how far she went kayaking that day.
Showing curiosity about a woman's picture is a great way to start a conversation. While most guys tell her that's she's pretty, focusing on something else can get you many responses.
5. Tell the woman she has great taste for liking your profile.
A cocky yet funny conversation starter is telling a woman she has great taste in men after she likes your profile. As the approach suggests, only use this strategy when a woman likes your profile. It won't work if you send it to a woman who hasn't seen your profile yet.
So, what do you write after the compliment? Anything is fair game. You can mix this approach with the other messages from this post. For example, tell the woman she has great taste for liking your profile, then ask a question about something in her bio.
You can get creative and come up with unique approaches. Have fun with the message. It is a little cocky, but you can see below, it can start conversations.
