What are some green flags in dating profiles? What things on your profile generate attraction and interest with women?

Everything on your dating profile has an impact, negatively or positively, with women.

I’ve covered turnoffs in a previous blog post where I shared online dating red flags women look for on men’s dating profiles.

But now it’s time to look at the opposite of red flags; green flags.

I posted on a dating forum and asked members what are some of your green flags in dating profiles?

The answers should give you clues as to how to present yourself. I’ll share my thoughts at the end.

Green Flags In Dating Profiles According to Women

“Plays an instrument. I feel like I only have partial communication and intimacy with someone if we can’t jam together. I know this is weird, but if it’s not there, I feel like something is missing.”

“Writing more conversationally than resume style. Hints about being dominant without being overt/piggish.”

“I look at usernames. I’ve typically liked people whose usernames are strings of words and/or puns as opposed to movedtola_tacos or awesomeguysaurus.”

“… if they show some semblance of higher-level thinking and mindfulness/awareness in their profiles.”

“Proper punctuation and grammar (I know I know I’m basic).”

“Doesn’t make any demands of their imaginary mate (No blanks, please be blank, only message me if blank, I can’t wait to meet my perfect blank).”

“Low-key funny meaning there are tiny jokes sprinkled throughout…”

“Similar interests, like types of video games they play (or if they play video games at all), the novels they’ve read, movies they watch, tv shows, etc…”

“Presentable and into outdoor activities but not a hardcore cyclist….yesterday I was browsing OKC and came upon this guy whose profile was pretty much all about his cycling and how devoted he was to it. I don’t think I would mesh well with someone who only wears spandex clothing plastered with brand names.”

“A clever username has a disproportionate effect on my decision to message or not.”

“Outdoorsy photos…”

“Dogs.”

“No mention of video games…”

“Mentions having a large family.”

“Correct usage of semicolons.”

“Sense of humor, competent at being an adult, attractive, they list iZombie or Veronica Mars. Or if they list a lot of the bands I like. Now if they can do that and be tall(er than me), shit I might die.”

“I like it when their profile text comes off as self-assured and happy with themselves.”

“Works with computers. I don’t know why.”

“Anyone who seems to be passionately describing their interest in music.”

Final Thoughts

When I posted the question “What are your Green Flags in Dating Profiles?” on a dating forum, I didn’t expect to get as many responses as I did.

There’s a lot for you to take away from the responses. Here’s what I think:

Share your passions. Give a little detail about them instead of just listing things you do.

Be confident. Keep your dating profile positive. No negativity, period.

Spelling and grammar are important. Always spell check.

Balance is key. Don’t focus on one thing that you is part of your lifestyle. As an example, say you are into CrossFit. Great. Explain why you do it and how it makes you feel but you don’t need 6 photos of you doing Crossfit, a username “CrossFitGod”, and 90% of your text section devoted to it. If your whole profile is devoted to one thing, you will scare away women.

Inject humor. Do it subtly. If you have to write “Ha, ha, ha” or “lol” on your profile when attempting to be funny; you aren’t.

Never list what you “aren’t here for” or what you “aren’t looking for.” Nobody is on a dating site looking for “drama” so you don’t need to write “I’m not here for drama!”.
