Don’t write on your dating profile that you’re a “nice guy.”

Every woman has their own red flags that they look for on men’s dating profiles. It seems one of those are men who are self proclaimed “nice guys.”

You shouldn’t have to point out that you’re a “nice guy” or one of the “good guys” when writing about yourself. Actions speak louder than words.

I’m not saying don’t be a nice guy, just don’t write it on your dating profile.

So, you may ask, “what are nice guy red flags on my dating profile?”

Saying you are nice is one red flag, but there are other things women look for that fall under the “nice guy” umbrella.

I put it out on a dating forum, Reddit, to find other nice guy red flags.

I LOVE Reddit because members are so brutally honest and people’s responses can give you valued insight into questions you may have.

Nice Guy Red Flags According to Female Redditors

Below are all comments from women so take note and see if you exhibit any of the following points:

“Putting me up on a pedestal, especially if they haven’t met me yet. ‘I can tell you are a kind, gentle, smart woman’.”

“I’m loyal and romantic.”

“Use of the words: love, lady, chivalry”

“I’m really good at cuddling, giving massages, holding hands, listening.”

“I pretty much don’t trust anyone who starts talking about ‘loyalty’. It usually means they’re about to stir up some shit and want you to shield them from the consequences of their actions.”

“Message me if you aren’t going to disappear like all those other girls.”

“Anything like that, that hints at bitterness/insecurity over past online dating experiences. The whole ‘I know YOU are a nice person and wouldn’t reject me when I’m so great’ deal.”

“Anyone who feels compelled to tell how nice, loyal, honest or trustworthy they are. People who are truly those things don’t need to tell you, they simply are those things and show it in their behavior.”

“Being overly accommodating/complimentary/over-extending in initial messages, implying that you’re somehow better than other men”

“If he sounds too good to be true, he probably is. ‘Nice guy’ guys generally don’t go around flaunting all their fabulous traits publicly before even meeting someone. Several men responded to my question on Reddit. Although the point of this post is how women perceive nice guy red flags, I wanted to share two great points made by a couple of guys.

“People, as a rule, show you who they are. They don’t tell you who they are. Anyone, male or female, who makes a lot of announcements about their personality, either in messaging or when they are first meeting you, are throwing up a lot of red flags.
For a guy, if he tells you he is ‘really different from normal guys’ or ‘totally not a bro’, then he is probably a lot like other guys with a slightly different script, and probably a bit of a bro.”

“There’s a difference between being good at something (generally good) and saying that you’re good at something (often a red flag). As a trivial example, boasting of modesty is a self-evident lie. In general, it’s better to boast of a skill (‘I’m a good cook’) than of a personality trait.”

Final Thoughts

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a nice guy.

Being a nice guy doesn’t mean you will “finish last” but sharing that you’re one on your dating profile most certainly will raise a few red flags with women.

I see too many men write that they are “nice guys” on their profile. Heck, some even have “nice guy” in their username or headline.

A lot of guys feel the need to point out they’re “nice guys” in their messages to women as well.

Stop right now if you do any of these.
