A recent study found women are flexible to things like your appearance, age, and height even when they indicate otherwise on their dating profile.

That’s right, you don’t have to be devastatingly handsome like George Clooney, make $500,000 a year, or be 6’4” to get the girl according to the study.

The study, conducted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell found you still have a chance to get the girl even if you are “lacking” in certain traits that most men perceive as “must haves” by women.

The study analyzed the dating profiles and behavior of 200,000 individuals and found some surprising, and not so surprising trends in the behavior of women. The researchers studied the volume of messages users had sent and received during an eight-week period, as well as whether they responded to the messages and how quickly.

Study Findings

In general, women showed a “significant difference” between their stated tastes and preferences and their actual dating behavior online.

Women tend to be more flexible when it comes to a man’s:

• Age
• height

BUT…women are very strict about a man’s:

• Martial Status
• Number of Children
• Income
• Education Level

“Though women have a checklist of what they’re looking for (in a partner), they tend to be more flexible than their online write-ups” says study researcher Benyuan Liu, Ph.D.

Another finding was that when it comes to age, a woman in her twenties is more likely to look for older males, but as the female gets older, she becomes more open toward younger males.

Final Thoughts

A dating profile may indicate what a woman looks for in a man, but the reality is many women are open to meeting you if you aren’t exactly what they are looking for.

The study shows women can be flexible and open with regard to certain traits but others, they tend to stick to their guns.

A prime example of something women can be adamant about are kids.

Do you want kids? No, then don’t email women who want children. They won’t respond. Focus on women who don’t want children.

If you do want kids, then focus on women who want kids instead of emailing women who don’t want kids. Get it?

However, don’t let a woman’s age restrictions or height stop you from emailing her even if she indicates a specific preference on her dating profile.
