How To Make Sure Your Date Looks Like Their Photo
You’ve traded emails with a woman off a dating site and finally got her number but you want to be sure her photos are recent. How do you make sure your date looks like their photo? Simple, just ask!
Seriously, all you have to do is ask her for a recent photo to make sure she looks like her profile photos. Another approach is to use her phone number to look for other photos of her online.
Some dating sites will even help you. Zoosk has photo verification which confirms the authenticity of photos. Users submit private selfie videos and Zoosk verifies that the person does indeed look like their photo. If the video matches the photo, that profile receives a badge on their profile.
Unfortunately, the majority of dating sites don’t have such a validation so it’s on you buddy. Believe me, the last thing you want is to meet a woman for a date and find out she looks nothing like her photos.
Here are three simple ways to make sure your date looks like their photo.
1. Ask Her For A Contact Photo
As soon as you get her number shoot her a text asking for a photo you can use her for contact photo on your phone. When I get a woman’s number I send a message like this:
That’s right, simply send a message like this; “Send me a photo so I can add it to your contact photo on my phone. He’s a photo of me.”
The key is to send a photo of yourself which is exactly what I did in my message. Most women will send you a photo when you do this.
Don’t use a photo from your dating profile because she’s already seen it. She may do the same thing and send you a photo you’ve already seen on her profile which is the last thing you want.
If she sends you a photo from her profile simply say, “No fair. I sent you a different photo. Send me a new one.” In my experience, this has never failed when a woman sends a photo I’ve already seen.
2. Search Her Out On Facebook
Another way you can make sure your date looks like their photo is to use Facebook. Once you have a woman’s phone number or name you can search her out.
This isn’t Facebook stalking; this is to simply make sure she looks like her dating profile photos. You may not know this but women are looking you up on Facebook and may even cancel on you because of something they find on your Facebook profile.
Match.com found 48% of women use Facebook to research a man prior to going on a first date. I covered this in a previous blog post, How Facebook Stalking Can Wreck Your Date Before It Even Starts.
I’m not saying to scroll through a woman’s timeline but simply make sure her main Facebook photo matches her dating profile photo.
3. Google Her Phone Number
Another tip to makes sure your date looks like her dating profile photos is to enter her number into Google and search her out. Sometimes you’ll get her Facebook profile, Linkedin page, or some random page or image so you can confirm she looks like her online dating photos.
Remember, you’re not cyber-stalking; you’re simply trying to find a photo to confirm her profile photos are current. And you even discover more than you bargain for like I did several years ago.
I once Google’d a woman’s number before a date and was directed to her Backpage post. Yes, she was an escort. We ended up getting married a few months after our date…..Just kidding. I immediately canceled the date.
I covered this in detail, as well as why Google is your ally for researching women prior to the date in this blog post; The Best Online Dating Tip You Will Ever Receive: Use Google!
One thing I recommend is Googling your own phone number because I can guarantee most women will search you out on Google.
Final Thoughts
In my experiences, I’ve found the easiest way to make sure your date looks like their photo is to swap photos once you get her number. Women are more apt to give you a photo if you send a photo first.
If women are reluctant to send a photo or give you the “I don’t have any more photos” line then try and search her out on Facebook or Google. You’ll be able to find most people using either of these approaches.
Lastly, I’m recommending you do this to make sure their photos are current. Don’t go full on stalker with the last two approaches.
The last thing you want to do is comment on photos you’ve seen on her social media or Google. Here “creepy” radar will go off and you’re done dude. So keep your mouth shut if you find something.
If you find her photos don’t match her profile it’s your call if you want to continue or not. Go with your gut.
Keep in mind there are other ways to communicate with her. Some women will flat out share their Instagram on their dating profile or are more than happy to use KIK, Snapchat, or other apps. Don’t be afraid to ask for a recent photo. Simply send a recent one first and most women will be happy to oblige.
