The Best Ways To Answer Bumble Prompts For Guys
If you want to appeal to women on Bumble, the ways to answer Bumble prompts are showcasing humor, challenging women, and describing what you're looking for on the app.
Most men fail on Bumble because they put zero effort, are boring, non-engaging, and underestimate the importance of prompts. Even worse, some guys don't answer prompts which is a huge blunder.
This post shares 7 tips for how to answer prompts on Bumble for men. Choose the tips that work best for you, and you'll get more matches on the app.
1. Put effort into your prompts.
The purpose of a prompt on Bumble is in the name - to "prompt" women to connect with you. Prompts compliment your photos and bio - allowing your personality to stand out further.
It's not the time for one or two-word answers in your prompts. Women want to see an effort in your answers, so add some depth.
Your effort in your profile shows women how serious you are about meeting someone. Below is an example of a typical guy's prompt on Bumble - note how generic his answer is.
The answer above will not create a connection with women because it's bland and unoriginal. It's also too short and I doubt the guy gets many matches.
I would replace the answer above with more traits and expand on traveling. Here's my answer, "You're kind, fun, adventurous, affectionate, and love vacations where the beaches are warm and drinks that come umbrellas."
2. Describe what you're looking for on Bumble.
The study, An evidence-based approach to an ancient pursuit, found guys doing the best on dating apps follow a 70/30 rule. 70% of your profile should be about you, while 30% should be about what you want in a partner.
Describing what you want in a partner shows you're a man who knows what he wants. Most guys' profiles are about themselves, offering zero insight into what they want on Bumble.
I recommend using one prompt to dive into your ideal partner. You can also paint a picture of what dating you is like. Below is an example of my answer to a prompt on Bumble.
The key is using a mix of words and activities you want in a woman. Keep it 100% positive - this isn't the time to tell women to "swipe left" or how they aren't your type if they don't meet some criteria.
Also, don't put your deepest thoughts into a prompt. Keep it light and fun - save the heavy topics for the first date.
Include fun stuff you enjoy that women enjoy as well in your answer. Examples include:
- Wine tasting
- Road trips
- Concerts
- Trying new restaurants
- Picnics at the beach
- Outdoor activities (kayaking, hiking, etc.)
- Karaoke
Avoid activities that women generally don't participate in as much. An example would be video games.
3. Share cool stuff about yourself.
Use one of your prompts to share more about yourself beyond your bio. The more cool things you share about yourself, the more likely you'll match with women sharing similar interests.
A great prompt to share your passions is "I get way too excited for." Include passions, hobbies, things you do on the weekend, etc.
I like including a lot of things instead of focusing on one. You can certainly focus on one topic if you want but listing several things increases the likelihood that women connect with you. Here are examples:
Multiple Topics: "Game nights with friends, whiskey (always neat), evening hikes, spicy food, junior mints, and weekend trips to Big Bear, to name a few.
Single Topic: "Live music - I love the combination of the music, the atmosphere, the energy, and the dancing... It's magical!"
4. Use humor - but sparingly.
I'm a huge advocate of using humor in your dating profile. Making a woman laugh will get you more matches on Bumble.
One of the best tips to answer Bumble prompts is to share a quip, a funny philosophy, a belief, a useless skill, or a story about your life. Anything can work as long as it's funny.
Be careful - use only one prompt showcasing humor. Don't try being a comedian in all your prompts because it does more harm than good.
When you try being funny in all your prompts, you miss out on showcasing other traits women look for in partners. Other traits women look for in men include confidence, directness, intelligence, passion, kindness, and more.
The key to success on Bumble is a balanced set of prompts showcasing other traits. It's OK to use humor, but if it goes over a woman's head, a bad joke is offset by your two other prompts.
5. Name local spots in your prompts.
Mentioning local areas can create a connection with women. They may be familiar with it and immediately have something in common or create curiosity because they've never been there.
For example, one of my favorite hiking trails in San Diego is Daly Ranch. It's a great trail that allows you to hike a quick 3-mile loop or push yourself to 10 miles and beyond.
Showing you're active in your bio is a great way to connect with women who live the same lifestyle. I could easily write in my bio how I "enjoy hiking," but it's a generic description. Tack on, tons of men write hiking in their bios.
A better approach is to mention trails by name. I would write in a prompt how I enjoy "challenging hikes at Daly Ranch followed by margaritas."
Women familiar with the trail will likely connect with me because they've been there. Also, women unfamiliar with the trail may become curious about the trail and ask about it.
I encourage you to sprinkle names of popular local places in your profile. Have a favorite place for live music? Write about it in your bio.
Maybe you enjoy a great sushi spot in town. Mention it in your prompts. Do you know a great happy hour spot? Talk about it.
Below is an example of a prompt where I mention a popular spot in San Diego for walks; Lake Miramar. The woman mentions it in her opening message to me.
6. Mention things that are currently popular.
An under-the-radar tip for prompts is to include something trendy in a prompt. My suggestion - is TV shows or movies that are currently popular.
Some women are likely to connect with you when seeing a show they're watching or just finished. Including something popular right now shows you're prompts are current.
A wildly popular show is likelier to pique a woman's interest over a show nobody knows. Don't just name the show/movie - share your thoughts about why you enjoy it.
You won't connect with many women if you're referencing shows long since finished. For example, Game of Thrones is long over, so keep it out of your prompts.
7. Challenge women in a prompt.
Show your competitive side in a prompt by issuing a challenge to women reading your profile. An example would be, "I'm 100% certain I can beat you in any board game. Catan. Ticket to Ride. Even Hungry, Hungry, Hippo."
Challenging women in a friendly way works wonders. Note how my example above isn't too serious.
Some women may be turned off if you come across as super competitive. That's why it's important to not come across as serious with your challenge - always keep it light and fun.
You don't necessarily need to be competitive to challenge women. Have fun by challenging women to a cooking contest or a game of pool.
