7 Ways You Can Get More Matches On Dating Apps
There are several ways you can easily get more matches on dating apps and land more dates with women. Photo verification, timing your messages right, and keeping your bio current are a few things you can do to boost your results.
Men outnumber women on most dating apps, so you want to do your best to stand out, which maximizes your chances for success. Here are 7 things you can do for more matches on dating apps.
1. Verify your photos.
Apps like Zoosk, Badoo, and Bumble (see below), allow you to verify your photos. If you're on an app that has this function, use it.
There's a huge benefit when you verify your photos. Zoosk found verifying your photos can get you up to 100% more incoming messages. Basically, you're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't verify your pictures.
Why does photo verification help? Because it confirms you look like your pictures to women.
A study in 2013 by Pew Research Center found "54% of online daters have felt that someone else seriously misrepresented themselves in their profile." The main culprit is people using old photos.
PEW did the study in 2013, and over 5 years later, women are still skeptical when it comes to photos. You can put their mind at ease by verifying your photos in your bio.
2. Keep your bio current.
If you want more matches on dating apps, you should update your bio at least once a month. Add new photos of yourself and change up your self-summary to keep it fresh.
The benefit of changing your bio is women who ignored you in the past may contact you because of something new you added.
If it's wintertime, you don't want photos of yourself at a beach during the summer. If you go on vacation somewhere, add photos.
Achieve some sort of accomplishment? Share it on your bio. Even something as simple as sharing a recent show you watch on Netflix can act as a hook. Women who watch the same show may comment on it.
3. Share your education in your bio.
Sharing the college you went to is a great way to get conversations rolling with women on dating apps. Everything on your bio can act as a hook causing women to send an icebreaker, so why not use your education to give your results a boost.
Zoosk found talking about college (or any kind of education) in your profile helps you get more replies to your messages. Those who use the word "college" in their profile get up to 64% more replies compared to the average.
Another study by Tinder found, "users prefer potential partners with a higher education level compared to themselves over potential partners with an equal (or lower) education level." Yep, education matters to women.
Use everything your app has to your advantage, including the education settings. In the example below, I filled in the college option on my Hinge profile, and you see it started a conversation.
4. Use icebreakers that show common interests.
The best way you can start conversations with women is by commenting on something you see in their bio. Asking questions about shared interests is a great way to stand out.
Most guys write, "We have a lot in common" and leave it at that. This is a terrible approach. Where's the proof you have anything in common?
A better approach is asking a woman a question while sharing your answer to the question you ask. When you share your answer to your question, you show you have similar interests.
In the example below from Eharmony, I saw the women enjoyed sci-fi shows and ask if she's seen "The Expanse." My approach starts a conversation with the woman.
In the example below from Coffee Meets Bagel, the woman shares she enjoys wine in her bio. I ask her what type of wine she enjoys, and then I share one of my favorites. You see how this approach can start a conversation.

5. Include hobbies in your photos.
Most guys use selfies as their photos. A better approach is sharing photos of yourself doing something you enjoy;
- hiking
- scuba diving
- mountain biking
- cooking
- gardening
- painting
- playing an instrument
- etc.
According to OkCupid, "people who have pictures of themselves doing something interesting have a 40% higher chance of receiving more messages."
We all have passions and interests that we enjoy. It's critical you add photos of yourself engaging in these type of things to give women an idea of what you do in your free time.

6. Show you're a saver (not a spender)!
Another way you can make yourself more attractive on dating apps is by showing you save money. One study found women find men who save incredibly attractive. Yep, saving is a trait women look for in a partner.
Why do women find men who save more attractive? Women see spenders as impulsive and more likely to make rash decisions like cheating on the relationship. You can read more about the study in my blog post: How To Make Yourself More Attractive On Your Dating Profile To Women.
You don't need to use the word "save," but can instead mention how you own a house or condo. You can point out that you are a saver in your profile by writing something similar to what I do below on Hinge.
If you don't own a home, it's OK to sprinkle the word "save" in your bio. You could write how you're saving for an upcoming vacation or your first home: "One of my short-term goals is to purchase my first condo in the next two years. I’m looking forward to owning a home and all the fun that comes with it."
Whatever you do, don't brag. You don't want pictures of your house, car, boat, or luxury items. Flaunting what you have is not attractive. A recent study, What Do Economically Costly Signals Signal? a Life History Framework for Interpreting Conspicuous Consumption, found men who flaunt their wealth are not viewed as ideal long-term partners.
7. Send your messages at the right time.
You want your message read first, and the best way to do that is to message women who are online at the same time you are. Apps such as OkCupid, Match, and Zoosk show you women who are online at the same time you are.
If you message a woman at 2 PM and she's not online, your message immediately goes to the top of her inbox. Suppose she doesn't check her messages until later that evening. In the meantime, 20 other guys sent her messages, so now your message sits at #21.
The woman has to read through 20 messages before yours. Maybe one guy will capture her attention. Or maybe after reading 15 terrible messages from other men, she decides to stop.
Either way, you're at a loss because of bad timing. Your best odds are sending a message when women are online.
What if you're on an app like Tinder, Bumble, or Facebook Dating where you can't see if a woman is online. You should message women in the evening. That's when they are most likely online.
Zoosk found the best time to message women is between 9:45 and 11 PM because that's when women are online the most. Bumble's found the best time of day to send a message to matches is between 8 and 10 PM.
Women are more likely to be on a dating app in the evening, so play the odds to your favor and message women in the evening on apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge.
