Examples of Bad Dating Profile Cliches for Men
If you really want to do well you need to avoid cliches on your dating profile. A cliche is an “overused phrased” that is “considered boring or not interesting.”
I’m sure you know all about the “I love to travel” cliche or the often mocked “I love long walks on the beach.” We laugh at these because they are so unoriginal and who in their right mind would use them. I’m here to tell you there are a lot more cliches men use.
I want to share with you a few bad dating profile cliches I found within minutes on POF. It’s obvious why women have a hard time finding a good man because we all say the same thing on our dating profiles.
Check out these bad dating profile cliches.
Speak For Yourself
Real men don’t have to tell a woman what someone else says about them. Speak up for yourself and don’t let others do the talking for you. Point out your strengths and remove this overused cliche from your dating profile.
You Love To Laugh
Do I really have to tell you why pointing out that you “love to laugh” or how you “love to make other people laugh” are bad dating profile cliches? Don’t use them. If you need to point out how you laugh or make others laugh, you probably aren’t very funny.
You Live Life To The Fullest
What the hell does this even mean? If you really live life to the fullest, share some examples.
You Don’t Play Games or are Drama Free
There is absolutely no need to share how you aren’t “here for games” or you are “drama free”. If you have to put this on your dating profile, you probably bring the drama or play games yourself. Keep it off your dating profile.
You Are Down to Earth or Laid Back
I’m a little biased. I’m checking out profiles in Southern California so maybe it’s a “SoCal” thing but I’m seeing a lot of men who say they are “laid back”. I don’t care where you are, you don’t need to share how “down to Earth” you are.
Honorable Mention: Netflix
There several of other cliches used on dating profiles. The aforementioned “loving to travel” is an example. But one of the up and comers is using Netflix on dating profiles.
So you love Netflix nights at home, how original. It would probably be funnier if you were to say “Amazon Prime Bitches!” instead of pointing out how you enjoy “Netflix nights in.”
You may be tempted to use the phrase “Netflix and chill”, which is code for “sex”, on your dating profile but keep the word “Netflix” off. It’s overused.
Final Thoughts
Bad dating profile cliches are a dime a dozen. All the examples above took me minutes to find on men’s profiles on Plentyoffish. These cliches are overused and meaningless.
Trust me when I tell you that women will row their eyes seeing these phrases. Instead of using these overused cliches, share your passions and interests. Dive into your hobbies and share what you love about them.
You’ll see better results.
