5 Bumble Tips For Guys That Help Get More Matches
The best Bumble tips for guys include using Interest Badges, showing humor, and a diverse photo portfolio. Small changes to your profile can have a huge positive impact.
This post shares five tips for guys on Bumble. If you're new to the app, struggling, or want better results, following the tips below will help you do better.
1. Showcase your humor.
Women love men with a great sense of humor. Making a woman laugh while reading your profile gets you more matches and responses to your messages.
Humor should come naturally. You can share a funny philosophy, show your wit by commenting on something or roll the dice by telling a joke.
Insert humor into your profile, but don't rely on it. It's OK to use one prompt to make women laugh, but don't try being funny in all three prompts.
Humor is subjective - 100% of women won't find your profile. One prompt should focus on humor, and the other two should be a little more serious.
Below is an example of a woman reacting to my prompt above. My answer gets a reaction, and I can move the conversation forward after that.
2. Use a diverse photo portfolio.
Great photos are critical for success on Bumble. You want to use pictures that help convey who you are and show some of your lifestyle and interest
The typical male on Bumble uses several bad photos (selfies, pictures alongside women, quotes, etc.). All it takes is one bad photo to cause a woman to swipe left.
A balanced photo portfolio is one of the most important Bumble tips for guys. Here are tips for photos on the app:
- Clear photos are crucial - no grainy pictures. Avoid dimly lit photos as well.
- Use all the photos available - Bumble allows you to add up to six photos to your profile - it's in your best interests to do so.
- Smile in your photos - The first thing women look at is your smile, so show your teeth. Smiling indicates you're friendly and happy.
- Look at the camera - Women want to see your eyes, so look directly at the camera. Also, avoid sunglasses because they cover one of your best assets.
- Include a full-body picture - Women want to see your entire body. A portfolio without a full-body picture is a red flag to women; they think you're hiding your body.
- Add photos showcasing your interests - Include pictures of yourself doing things you enjoy. Playing an instrument, traveling, hiking, wine-tasting, cooking, etc. are all options.
- Don't use photos you're not physically in - Avoid pictures of food, alcohol, a sunset, your car, a dog, etc. These photos are not beneficial - women want to see YOU, not your stuff.
- Avoid women in photos - Standing alongside women in photos takes the focus away from you (which is the last thing you want). A picture with women in it is an instant "no" for some women viewing your profile.
- Connect to Instagram - Linking your profile to Instagram allows you to show women more of your lifestyle. Note: The tips above apply to your Instagram photos as well.
- Maintain a consistent look - You must look the same in all your photos. Say you're clean-shaven in most of your pictures, but include a picture with a full-on beard. This is a huge blunder because your appearance is different, which raises a red flag for women.
3. Write a balanced bio that appeals to women.
Don't skip your bio on Bumble. Here's your chance to share what makes you unique - the little quirks that help you stand out
You don't get much real estate to write a bio on Bumble, but that doesn't mean you should ignore it. There's more than enough room to write about yourself and give insight into who you are and what you're looking for on the app.
Don't be long-winded in your bio, so you don't need to write lengthy sentences. Use adjectives and a short sentence or two. The key is keeping your bio tight - short enough to give women an idea of who you are.
The best strategy for your bio on Bumble is to separate it into three parts. Here's the breakdown for your bio
Part 1. Write about yourself. In this section, choose a few words that accurately describe yourself - no need to be shy here.
Here's the first section of my bio: "Me: Dapper, educated, active, healthy, witty, with a positive vibe."
My description of myself is light and friendly. The goal is to give women a small peak into who you are.
Part 2. Write what you're looking for in a partner. It's a good idea to include a description of the type of woman you're seeking on Bumble.
Here is the second section of my bio: "You: Passionate, sensual, classy, intelligent, and ready to be wooed."
I start with the word "You." The word "you" is a powerful way to connect with a woman reading your profile.
Keep this section positive. Avoid laundry lists of traits or telling women to "swipe left" because of something you dislike.
Don't hesitate to write what you want because it shows you're a man who knows what he wants. Writing what you want separates you from the guys who write, "I don't know what I'm looking for."
Part 3. Add a few tidbits. In this section, add a few odds and ends about yourself. You can include a guilty pleasure, a favorite show, preferences for music, etc.
"A few tidbits:
- My cooking skills are legendary
- Ridiculously addicted to Pop-Tarts
- Prefer red wine over whites
- Love sleeping in on the weekend."
The amount of effort you put into your bio speaks volumes. Women may not take you seriously if you write nothing about yourself.
4. Add a few "Interests Badges" to your profile.
Bumble Interest Badges are images that share things you enjoy. You can find them in the "My interests" section of your profile.
Interest Badges are a great way to connect with women who scan your profile. Instead of reading your bio or prompts, they can quickly see your choices through images.
Bumble allows up to 5 Interest Badges, and I recommend choosing all 5. It takes seconds to add them to your profile.
Here is how you add Interest Badges to your profile on Bumble:
Step 1. Tap on the grey silhouette on the bottom-left corner of the app.
Step 2. Tap on "Complete my profile" under your picture to edit your profile.
Step 3. Underneath your Basic Info, you will see the options for badges.
Step 4. Choose up to 5 interests and hit the save button to update your profile.
5. Create curiosity to persuade women to contact you.
One of my favorite tips for guys on Bumble is writing a sentence that induces women to match up with you. You want to mention something but don't paint the entire picture, so it creates curiosity with women reading your bio.
Look at this sentence: "I know the best spot in town for margaritas." Note how I don't name the location.
I'm being vague because I want women to read this and think, "I want to know where I can get the best margaritas." Does this work? Absolutely! Check out the messages from women below.
Write a curiosity-based sentence in your bio. Other examples for this approach could be one of these:
- I know the best spot in town for sushi.
- I know the best spot in town for happy hour.
- I know the best spot in town for live music.
Use one of my examples, or get creative and think of one yourself. You only need one sentence like this in your bio or a prompt.
