- Verify yourself on Zoosk.
- Create a good username.
- Don't ignore the Basics section.
- Use the Interests feature on Zoosk.
- A great bio is key to your success!
- Put up a diverse photo portfolio.
- Avoid the premium features on Zoosk.

- "Likes" are worthless - send a message instead.

1. Verify yourself on Zoosk.
Zoosk allows several ways to verify yourself. You can verify the following:
- Photos.
- Phone number
- Facebook.
If anything, verify your photos. Zoosk claims that verifying your photos can get you up to 100% more incoming messages.
Verifying your photos is a no-brainer. Women are skeptical men don't use current photos. A verification badge puts women's minds at ease.

It's a good idea to verify everything. Women are suspicious of catfish and trolls, so verifying yourself as much as possible can give you an edge.
2. Create a good username.
Your username matters. According to Zoosk, adding a username can get you up to 20% more incoming messages.
Picture this - a woman receives a notification from Zoosk. The first says "A Zoosk member" wants to meet you (see below).
The woman's other notification shows HandsomeHunk. Which do you think will grab her attention?

3. Don't ignore the Basics section.
The Basics section of your Zoosk profile is important. Many men either ignore the section or zip through it, not realizing the consequences of their answers.
Here are recommendations for a few of the traits in the Basics section:
- Body Type - Average is acceptable. An athletic lifestyle doesn't mean you have an athletic body.
- Education - Women typically gravitate towards college-educated men, so answer this question.
- Religion - If you're comfortable, answer this question.
- Smoking - Be aware that smokers get fewer matches on dating apps.
- Height - Be honest about your height.
4. Use the Interests feature on Zoosk.
I'm a firm believer in using all your app's features to your advantage. The Interests section on Zoosk is a prime example.
The interests showcase topics beyond your profile. You never know what can capture a woman's attention, so it's a great idea to include a few on your profile.
5. A great bio is key to your success!
It's no secret that your bio is critical on Zoosk. Guys typically put zero effort into their bio, but not you. Let's dive into how to write a great bio on Zoosk.
There are three sections of a Zoosk profile. One of the top trips and tricks on Zoosk is writing something in each section of your profile.
Here's a breakdown of each and what you should write in each section.
- Story - This section is all about you! Share your passions, interests, and hobbies.
- Perfect Match -This section describes what you want in a woman. Keep it positive and realistic. Don't write a laundry list of "must-haves."
- Ideal Date - Paint a picture of what dating you is like. Keep it short and on point.
There are things women respond to in men's bios. Here's what you must show in yours on Zoosk:
- Effort - Women want to see an effort in your bio. The amount of effort you put into your bio shows women how serious you are about meeting someone on the app.
- Confidence - Show supreme confidence in your profile. Guys who know what they want in women do better than guys who hope women choose them.
- Humor - Sprinkle some humor in your bio. Share a useless talent or funny philosophy. If you can make a woman laugh, you're off to a great start.
- It's in the details - Add depth to your description. For example, if you like concerts, you must write why. It's easy - just add the word "because" to your description. I like concerts because..."
Guys typically fail because of blunders in their bio. Avoid these mistakes in your profile because they are red flags:
- Negativity - don't write what you aren't looking for or how you "aren't here for games or drama." Telling women to "swipe left" is a mistake.
- Grammar mistakes - Bad grammar shows you're uneducated or too lazy to check for errors.
- Don't beg or plead with women - Never write "give me a chance" or "someone please take me off this app." Yes, men to this.
- Showing you're too busy for dating - Writing that you're "very busy" isn't a good selling point.
- Avoid listing facts - Men typically write how they enjoy "hiking, cooking, and traveling." Instead of listing topics, dive into why you enjoy things like these. Remember, add the word "because," so "I love hiking because..."
- Appearing clueless - Starting your bio with "I'm not sure what I'm looking for" or "I'm not good at this" is not a good first impression.
- Cliches - These are meaningless because they share nothing about who you are. Examples include how you "love to laugh," are "fluent in sarcasm," or "enjoy going out but love staying in."
6. Put up a diverse photo portfolio.
First impressions are critical for success on Zoosk. Photos can make or break you. You never know what can cause a woman to like your profile or ignore you.
It's easy to put up a great portfolio. Tips for your photos on Zoosk include:
- Smile - The first thing women look at in your photos is your smile, so flash those choppers.
- Don't hide your face - Avoid sunglasses and hats.
- Look at the camera - Women want to see your eyes, so don't look away from the camera or wear sunglasses.
- Share at least 1 full-body picture - Women want to see you head-to-toe.
- Use well-lit pictures - Avoid pictures in the dark where it's hard to see you.
- Make sure your photos are current - For example, no Christmas trees pictures in July.
Here are pictures you must avoid in your Zoosk profile:
- No photo of women - Women in your pictures takes the focus away from you, which is the last thing you want.
- You must be in all your pictures - no photos of a car, a quote, the ocean, a beer, etc.
- No half-naked selfies - Dating.com found men receive 25% fewer matches even though 90% of them think shirtless photos improve their chances.
- Avoid pictures inside a gym - Photos of your doing some sort of workout are not beneficial.
- Avoid car selfies - A selfie inside your car shows nothing about your lifestyle except that you're stuck in traffic.

7. Avoid the premium features on Zoosk.
Zoosk offers several premium features that supposedly help you on the app. Premium features include:
- Premium Messaging - Non-paying members can respond to your messages.
- Hide & Seek - View other members without them knowing.
- Read Receipts - You can see if a woman reads your message or not.
- Instant Crush - A sort of "super like" that, according to Zoosk, makes it 5 times more likely to start a conversation.
- Undo - If you accidentally say no to someone using the Carousel feature, an undo allows you to go back and say yes.
- Coins - Virtual currency you can use to buy virtual gifts, boost your profile, and unlock Carousel matches.
You don't need any of the features above. They are a complete waste of money and add no value.
You don't need to waste money on these add-on features when you have a great profile and icebreakers. Save your money and do not purchase any premium features on Zoosk.
8. Focus on women who are online.
Zoosk has a great feature - you can see women currently online using the app. One of my favorite tips and tricks for Zoosk is focusing on women online. You're more likely to get a response to messages.
When you send a message, it goes to the top of a woman's inbox. Suppose the woman is offline and you send a message. Great, your message is first in her queue.
However, suppose the woman checks her inbox 5 hours after you send a message. Guess what? 20 other men sent her a message, and now your message is buried deep in her inbox.
It's best to use Zoosk in the evening because that's when most women use the app. Use Zoosk's filtering tool focusing on women online whenever using the app.
9. "Likes" are worthless - send a message instead.
A common blunder for men is liking a woman's profile without sending a message. There's no reason to simply like a profile when you can send a message.
Likes are low-effort. They're lazy and show women how serious you are about meeting someone on Zoosk.
An icebreaker is a much better first impression than a like. You can use humor, show confidence or curiosity in messages, and impress women.
Also, stay away from the smile feature. It's worse than liking a woman's profile.
Always send a message instead of a like or smile. Seriously, always!
10. Put effort into your icebreakers.
Most guys put zero effort into their opening messages. Women typically get messages such as, "Hi," "Hey there," "How are you," "Wow, you're gorgeous," or "How's your night," to name a few.
It's a better idea to comment on something in a woman's profile. Look for common interests. In the example below, the woman shares she likes wine, so I use that as my opener.
Anything a woman shares in her bio is fair game for your opener. Photos are also good as long as you show curiosity.
If you encounter a woman who offers little in her profile, get creative with a funny opener. Below is an example where I ask a basic question but add humor.
