7 Good Hinge Prompt Tips For Men
Good Hinge prompt tips include being relatable, showcasing humor, and choosing the right prompts. If you're not getting likes or messages on Hinge, this post shares 7 tips so you can stand out on the app.
Prompts are critical for success on Hinge - a great prompt helps your profile shine and will always capture a woman's attention. Follow the Hinge prompt tips below, and you'll improve your results on the app.
1. Choose the right prompts!
Hinge has several prompts to choose from, so you got options. Every prompt is fair game for your profile. Below is an example of prompts available on Hinge.
Some prompts are more challenging to answer than others. There are things to keep in mind when selecting a prompt:
- Avoid controversial prompts - Stay away from politics.
- Don't lecture women or talk down to them.
- Never answer a prompt with only one or two words.
- Select prompts that allow you to showcase your personality.
- Use humor in no more than one of your prompts - You may not be as funny as you think you are.
- Keep it positive - Absolutely no negativity in a prompt.
- Don't play it "safe" - share what makes you unique.
- Be aware of what your prompts are conveying about you.
Below is an example of a man's prompt. Although he's honest, the prompt may be off-putting to women viewing it, and I doubt many women will like the answer and more likely pass on the guy.
Here's a prompt where the guy shows he's forgetful. He's trying to be funny, but it's not working. The guy has no self-awareness because his answer shows forgetfulness, which is not an appealing trait.
Spend a moment thinking about your answer to a prompt. Don't just gloss over it because you could be turning women away instead of generating curiosity or attraction.
2. Make yourself relatable with women.
When answering a prompt, it's a good idea to write in a way that connects with women. Look at the prompt below. It's not going to be relatable to many women.
The guy is obviously attempting to be funny with his answer. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. He's trying to connect with women with a
I like adding several things a woman may connect with in my prompts. These include hobbies, interests, and activities women typically enjoy doing with men.
The more you list in a prompt, the more likely women will see something that speaks to them. In my prompt below, I include fun things that women typically enjoy doing that I also like.
Sure, my list isn't deep, but it gets likes and comments. If I included one thing, "Making meals together," it wouldn't perform as well. That's why you must include several fun activities in your answers.
3. Women want to see an effort in prompts.
All too often, men write one-word or two-word answers in prompts. Below is an example of an answer that is too short.
The answer above will not appeal to women. General Tso's chicken? OK, but what else? It's the lack of depth that hurts the answer.
If you choose a single topic, a better way of answering the prompt is using the word "because" in it. For example, "General Tso's chicken because..." then dive into why you like it.
I tend to cram as much as possible into a prompt. You don't need to focus on one thing. Below is an example of where I share many interests in a different prompt..
Remember, the more you include, the more likely you will mention something the woman viewing your profile enjoys. I recommend answering your prompts like above.
4. Showcase your humor.
If you can make a woman smile, or even better, laugh, you're off to a great start. I'm a huge proponent of humor in prompts. Below is an example of a simple yet effective way to grab a woman's attention.
Keep in mind humor is subjective, and a woman may not connect with your sense of humor. So, it's best to use one prompt showcasing your wit.
Be a little more serious with your answers for the rest of the prompts. This way, if you can't make the woman smile with your funny prompt, you can still capture a woman's attention with your serious answers.
You don't want to put all your eggs in one basket, so to speak. Use only one prompt to show you're funny side.
5. Be you!
A fatal mistake for men on Hinge is writing what they think women want to hear in prompts, being too generic or sharing nothing about themselves. If you want to grab a woman's attention, be YOU!
Too often, men try to answer prompts, so they appeal to all women. If you try to appeal to all women with your prompts, you'll appeal to none.
Share things about yourself in prompts. Anything is fair game, and it's your quirks that help you stand out.
Below is an example of a prompt. It's simple yet effective. I'm not going for depth - I share little things about myself that I enjoy, knowing they appeal to women as well.
6. Describe what you're looking for (the right way).
A huge blunder for men on Hinge is using bland, boring descriptions of what they're looking for. Below is an example of a guy describing nothing about what he wants in his answer.
Not many women will connect with someone who only shares they love pizza. The topic of pizza is fine, but you should include more about what you want in a partner.
Be honest. Be direct. You'll fare better, including things women enjoy doing with men. Below is an example of a prompt detailing stuff I want in a partner.
You can see in the prompt above that I include pizza, but other things that are important to me. This isn't very deep per se, but it includes enough to connect with various women.
So, list things women enjoy in your prompts. Typical fun things include:
- wine tasting
- road trips
- dancing
- concerts
- cooking meals together
- traveling
- sporting events
- discovering new restaurants.
Avoid including things like video games or obscure hobbies. You're more likely to connect with women on everyday things instead of listing anime, for example.
7. Update (or replace) underperforming prompts.
The great thing about Hinge is the app tells you which prompts well. You can tell the popularity of a prompt by how many likes or comments it receives.
The app basically tests your prompts and shares the results with you. So, if a prompt doesn't get many likes or comments, update it or replace it with a different one.
Savvy marketers split test everything and replace underperforming things. You can do the same - I recommend every few weeks look at how your prompts are performing and swapping out underperforming ones.
Bonus Tip - Do a voice prompt!
Hinge offers a voice prompt feature. Don't ignore this feature - add a voice prompt to your profile. A voice prompt will boost your results on the app.
Women will absolutely click on the voice prompt. This gives them an idea of your energy, personality, and they can hear your voice (which is a plus).
A prompt is easy to add to your profile. For a complete overview of the voice prompt feature, visit my blog post, How To Answer Hinge Voice Prompts In 5 Easy Steps.
