How To Improve Your Dating Profile In 5 Steps
Not having success on dating apps? Don't worry; with a few fixes, it's easy to improve your dating profile and turn your results around.
Every piece of your profile impacts your results. Hinge found 57% of women said they didn't respond to men's messages because they "took a closer look at the person's profile..." It's no secret a great dating profile is critical for success.
First impressions are critical, so don't blow your chances with a half-assed dating profile. The tips below are a great way to improve your dating profile.
1. Take better pictures.
Ditch selfies, quotes, picture of objects (cars, motorcycles) and locations (beaches, mountains). Pictures like these are a terrible first impression and appear as if you're hiding something because you don't show yourself.
First impressions are critical, so make sure you have a variety of photos in your profile. Insert a few pho0tos of yourself engaging in some hobbies. Hiking, traveling, kayaking, farmers markets, with your pet, etc., are examples you can use. All are a great way to show the variety in your life.
Also, look directly at the camera and smile in your pictures. Match.com found the first thing women look at in your photos is your smile and teeth. Hinge found you're 76% more likely to receive a like when you smile with teeth. Facts are facts... smile!
Lastly, if your app allows captions to photos, use them! Hinge found photos with captions got two times as many likes as those that didn't.

2. Link to your social media.
If your dating app allows you to link to Instagram, Pandora, etc., do it. The benefit of linking your dating profile to various social media platforms is that women gain more insight into who you are.
Photos of yourself on Instagram, for example, having fun and sharing more of your life works wonders. Your favorite music appearing via Spotify can create a connection as well. It's a good idea to use this feature to your advantage.
3. Revamp your bio.
Here's a fact; women read your bio! A lot of men think it's all about your photos; it's not. Women spend 50% more time analyzing men's profiles. Zoosk found a written description about yourself gets you up to 28% more incoming messages.
Avoid clichés and high-level general information. For example, don't just write how you love the outdoors, traveling, and staying in but also going out. That's generic and shares nothing about you.
You want to offer proof! Here's what you should write, "I love the outdoors. Exercising in the sunshine makes me feel good. A hike at Daly Ranch, kayaking in Mission Bay, or a walk around Lake Miramar - the opportunities are endless here. Fresh air and exercise are a great release of stress, and what better way to reward myself after a workout than a cold beer and fish tacos."
Sure, a description like the one above takes effort, but your profile will stand out. Women will see you're serious about online dating, and you'll see more responses to your message.

4. Share what you're looking for.
Here's a tip that most men don't do in their profiles - describe what you're looking for in a partner. One study found that men who describe what they are looking for in a partner receive the best results.
The guys who get the best results on dating apps have profiles describing what they want. The rest of the guys put up bios where they hope women choose them. There's a difference. Women love a confident man.
Be realistic here. Positive and fun. Avoid a laundry list of traits and definitely avoid negative statements such as, "Don't message me if..." with strict demands.
Keep it simple. It's as easy as saying, "I'm looking for someone passionate about something, kind to others, has a great sense of humor. You're active but don't mind splitting a pizza with me."
5. Close your profile out strong.
I like to finish my profile with a call to action. A call to action is a phrase that tells the user precisely what action to take and how to take it. It's a marketing trick that works!
You no doubt see these on TV infomercials or when you visit websites. Heck, I even use them. Call to actions are used for a reason; to encourage you to act now.
The beauty of a call to action is you can add one to the end of your profile to prompt women to contact you. Write this at the end of your bio, "I look forward to hearing from you." Simple.
