Improve Your Tinder Profile Following These Steps
Do women ignore you on Tinder? Are you getting a handful of "likes?" You can improve your Tinder profile with a few changes.
Success on Tinder isn't only about your photos. Yes, they are important, but women look at everything. So your bio and profile settings, for example, shouldn't be overlooked.
Fixing your profile is simple. Follow the list below, and you'll see a turnaround. Here's how to improve your Tinder profile in 7 steps.
1. Use a diverse portfolio.
It's important to use several photos on Tinder showcasing your life. First impressions are critical, so don't mess up your chances by using terrible photos.
Ditch the selfies, staged photos, and absolutely no pictures standing next to women. Also, if you aren't physically in the picture, don't use it. Too often, guys use pictures of a lake, sunset, or beach and think it's acceptable. It's not.
It's simple to create a portfolio that appeals to women. A diverse set of photos is key. Here are few tips for your photo on Tinder:
- Smile in your pictures - The first thing women look at in photos is a man's smile, so smile already.
- Maintain eye contact with the camera - Looking at the camera creates a connection with women viewing your photos. Don't look away!
- Include pictures of your hobbies and interests - Whatever you enjoy doing, it's time to share it in your photos.
- Use good lighting - Avoid using dark pictures that are hard to see. Pictures taken in good daylight are perfect.
- Traveling pictures are great - Tinder found that one in five subscribers use the app to find someone to explore while traveling, so share some of your traveling adventures.

2. Check your profile settings.
An often-overlooked section on dating apps is the profile traits. Tinder has a handful that requires attention. So it's a good idea to answer them.
Take the time to update your settings. Here are the settings you can update and my recommendations:
- Job Title - It's a good idea to write your job title. It shows women you have a job.
- Company - I recommend ignoring this. There's no need to list the company you work for.
- School - College-educated men do well on dating apps. It's OK to list the college you went to. It shows you're educated, and as a bonus, women who attended the same school are likely to connect with you.
- Living In - Update this with the city you're living in. Women are apprehensive of men who are traveling, so sharing you live in the city is beneficial.
Don't get me wrong - you won't get a flood of messages because of your job title or school, but they can impact your results positively. So it's better to fill them out rather than leave them blank.
3. Don't ignore your bio.
Women read your bio. It's a myth that women swipe right based on photos alone. So don't underestimate the importance of a well-written bio.
Write a few short sentences describing yourself. Anything you do is fair game. Do you like traveling? Share a recent adventure. Can you cook? Describe your best dish? Share your favorite things to do on the weekend, a goal, or a funny philosophy.
You have limited real estate for a bio on Tinder. This isn't Match.com, so you can't write a lengthy bio. Keep it short and to the point.
Lastly, include what you're looking for in your bio. Write a brief description of your ideal woman. Confident men know what they want and aren't afraid to share it in their profiles.
Maybe you want a woman who is active and educated. Or maybe you want someone adventurous and affectionate. Include activities you enjoy doing with women (wine tasting, road trips) as well.
4. It's a good idea to verify yourself.
You're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't verify yourself on Tinder. More and more dating apps are adding photo verification, including Tinder.
Verifying yourself confirms that your photos are current. One of the biggest frustrations for women is guys using outdated photos.
Women are already suspicious that guys don't look like their pictures. So put their mind at ease by taking a few minutes to verify yourself.
Verifying yourself on Tinder is simple. Follow these steps:
- Open Tinder and tap the profile icon.
- Tap the gray checkmark by your name/age.
- Select "Verify your profile" to begin.
- You'll be shown a pose and will be asked to copy that pose by taking a selfie.
- Confirm that your selfie matches the pose and hit "Submit for review."
- Repeat steps 4 & 5 one more time.
Tinder will verify your photo. Once verified, a checkmark will appear on your profile. That little blue checkmark will boost your results.
5. Update your "Passions" in your bio.
There's a feature on Tinder you may not be aware of. You can choose from a set of pre-selected interests, also known as Passions, displayed on your profile.
Since Tinder only shares basic information - job and college, for example - Passions are a great way to share more about yourself.
The beauty of Passions is the interests you share with a woman are highlighted with a dark border when viewed. Below is an example.
Tinder allows you to pick a maximum of five Passions (and a minimum of three). I recommend choosing all five. Here are the steps to add Passions to your Tinder bio:
- Open Tinder and click on your profile icon.
- Tap on the pencil icon by your profile photo.
- Scroll down the list and click on "Passions."
- You can select a maximum of 5 and a minimum of 3 Passions. You have to pick at least 3.
- Tap on "Done" once you are through and you are good to go.
Sure, the Passions on Tinder aren't that deep. But, the great thing about them is they are displayed front and center on your bio. So, as a result, women may connect with you, seeing similar interests on your profile.
6. Connect your Tinder profile to Instagram.
Connecting your Instagram account adds a little more flavor to your Tinder profile. As a result, women get a little more insight into what makes you unique.
I recommend sharing photos of yourself doing things you enjoy. Fun activities are ideal. Think of this as an extension of your Tinder photos. Stay away from your favorite hangout spots - you don't want a stalker.
7. Link to your Spotify account.
One thing I recommend is leveraging all features on a dating app to your advantage. Linking Tinder to your Spotify list fits into this category.
When you update your Tinder Anthem - a song that appears in your profile, it appears in the Feed for women. According to Tinder, conversations generated via Anthem-related content on Feed and photo-related content are most likely to receive a response.
Tinder says people receive more "likes" when their profile is complete. This means that adding an Anthem/Top Artists leads to more matches and "likes."
