I recently read Match.com’s annual Online Dating Study and wanted to share some of the results with you.

Match.com researched 5,600 singles, asking over 100 questions, and tallying the results. Below are the online dating facts as a result of the study.

Online Dating Facts for Women

89% of women want a partner with a sense of independence.

86% of women want a partner with the same level of intelligence.

74% of women think it’s OK to casually date more than one person at a time.

55% of women are not willing to support a partner financially.

94% seek a partner who is comfortable with their sexuality.

61% would not likely date someone who’s less intellectual.

97% of women consider having a sense of humor just as important as physical attractiveness.

49% of the ladies believe in love at first sight.

57% of women consider taking excessive selfies as a turn-off.

63% of single women wouldn’t date someone who has considerable debt.

Online Dating Facts for Men

90% of single men consider having a sense of humor just as important as physical attractiveness.

59% of single men believe in love at first sight.

90% of men are OK with a woman asking them out.

44% seek an independent career-driven woman.

87% single men would date someone who is more educated.

44% of single men wouldn’t date someone who’s less educated.

86% want a confident and self-assured woman.

58% of men would date someone considerably taller.

87% would date a woman who makes more money.

43% want a woman with a similar education level.

Online Dating Facts for Singles

Singles want to be seen as:

Funny
Smart
Compassionate

72% of singles think frequently checking your phone is the worst first date mistake.

33% of singles that exercise 2-6 times a week had sex at least monthly in 2014 compared to 20% of singles who rarely or never choose to exercise.

50% of singles that exercise at least twice per week went on a first date in 2014, compared to only 29% of singles who say they rarely or never exercise.

75% of singles want their date to have an opinion on foreign and domestic news and events.
