What are Online Dating Profile Deal Breakers Women look for?
You may not realize that you have dating profile deal breakers right now. There are words, sentences, and attitudes that scare women away in droves.
We all have deal breakers right? A deal breaker for me is a woman who writes “I’m picky” or “I refuse to settle” on their dating profile. These women look for failure in men, and in my experience, aren’t worth the effort because they will find something wrong with any man who contacts them.
But what about deal breakers women have with your dating profile? I got you covered.
Here are 10 Dating Profile Deal Breakers According to Women:
1. “Too many shirtless, mirror pics and selfies”
You should have zero half naked selfies on your dating profile. If you are in good shape, use a picture of yourself doing something outdoors to show your body. Surfing or kayaking for example.
Never use a photo of yourself in the bathroom in your dating profile. Pictures like this are a dime a dozen and don’t appeal to women and are one of the biggest dating profile deal breakers.
In fact, don’t use selfies on your dating profile period. Zoosk found men who posted selfies received 8% fewer messages from women so ditch these type of photos. Save the selfies for your Facebook photos.
Note, if you have photos of yourself in your bathroom, you deserve an empty inbox.
2. “Photos of cars, pets, or objects like mountains and beaches.”
You must be in all your photos. There is no exception. First impressions are everything and a picture of your car or pet is worthless. These type of photos speak nothing of your interests.
Here are a few facts about these type of photos:
Zoosk found that people who use photos of their pets are 53% less popular.
Another study found women respond the LEAST to men who “flaunted their wealth.” So there’s no need to show a picture of your BMW.
3. “Guys in pics with other girls whom they don’t specify who they are in relation to them…”
There’s no need to have a photo with other women on your profile. It doesn’t make you more desirable so remove them. Photos of you alongside other women is not appealing and is among the top dating profile deal breakers for women. It screams “player” or “womanizer”.
eHarmony wrote this about including women in your dating profile photos; “Even if it’s the most platonic of friendships, don’t include a picture of yourself with a member of the opposite sex if you’re looking for a heterosexual relationship. In general, keep pictures confined to shots of yourself.”
When a dating site suggests you do something, you probably should take heed.
4. “I’m not here for games or drama”
There is no need to tell women you aren’t looking for games or drama. Negative comments like these are among the worst dating profile deal breakers.
5. “Don’t message me if….”
Never tell women to not contact you. When you say “Don’t message me if..” you are showing weakness, not strength. Sharing your dislikes is a turnoff to women.
6. “Short profiles, people who just don’t bother…”
One of the most common dating profile deal breakers for women is when men say absolutely NOTHING about themselves on their dating profile.
This is your opportunity to share your passions, interests, and hobbies. If you can’t write anything about yourself you are showing a complete lack of effort. A short profile speaks volumes to women about the kind of effort you will put into a relationship.
Put a little effort into your profile. You’ll separate yourself from the men who write nothing.
7. “The basic hobby of watching Netflix and liking to travel and other cliches.”
Please, please, please don’t use the word “Netflix” on your dating profile. It’s become a cliche that’s almost as bad as “I enjoy long walks on the beach.”
Whatever you say you are, you must show it. If you like to travel, for example, share why and where your last adventure took you.
8. “Painful amount of spelling mistakes or grammatical errors.”
I have pointed out in a previous blog post that good grammar in your about me section is very important. Match.com found nearly 70% of women judge men on their grammar.
You more than likely have Microsoft Word on your computer. Use it. Copy and paste your profile text into Word to check spelling.
You don’t have to be eloquent and use fancy words, but you should know the difference between “they’re” and “their” when you use it on your dating profile.
9. “Just Ask”
Talk about lazy and lack of effort. What makes you think a woman will contact you when you write “just ask”? They won’t.
10. “Too many group photos (which one are you?) or not showing your body/face.”
One group photo is enough. Women don’t want to have to scan through a bunch of group photos and figure out who you are; use only one. Be sure to put yourself in the center because we naturally look to the center of a photo.
