Volunteering Can Make You More Appealing

Generosity makes you hotter!  That’s right, studies have found volunteering makes you more attractive to women.

Why does volunteering make you more attractive?  Because altruism speaks volumes; it’s not all about you and you have a giving side.

Altruism is defined as “feelings and behavior that show a desire to help other people and a lack of selfishness.”  Showing that you are selfless is a great way to appeal to women.  It show’s your compassionate and care for others.

And this is backed by several studies which have found women prefer selflessness more than any other trait in men.

Science Backs This Up

One study, “A Longitudinal Analysis of Romantic Relationship Formation The Effect of Prosocial Behavior” looked at 12,775 singles and analyzed how often they helped others.  Those who helped at least once a week were more likely to be in a relationship a year later than others who rarely helped others.

The study gathered data since 1984 and found that 14% of the participants changed their status to “married” or “in a relationship” the following year but participants who regularly helped others had a 25-46% higher chance of ending up “married” or “in a relationship” themselves.

Another study, “Do humans prefer altruistic mates? Testing a link between sexual selection and altruism towards non-relatives”, looked at how altruism impacted sexual selection.

The study was actually a combination of three different studies of more than 1,000 people. The study found women place a significantly greater importance on altruistic traits than anything else which confirmed volunteering makes you more attractive to the opposite sex.

Why does volunteering make you sexier? One possible reason is that a man who shows generosity to strangers would be a generous parent.

Final Thoughts

You may be adventurous, spiritual, physically active, educated, passionate, affectionate and so on but volunteering makes you more attractive than anything else hands down.

You don’t know what traits a woman seeks in her partner. It could be a combination of several things however studies show one universal trait appeals to all women; being selfless.

If you volunteer you should mention it in your dating profile; “I participate in the big brother program“, “I volunteer as a lifeguard on the weekends” or “I donate time at the local animal rescue.”  Showing you volunteering for something boosts your appeal significantly.

You could add photos of yourself helping at a retirement community, working at a dog shelter, reading to children, participating in cleaning up a park, etc…  If you do any sort of volunteer activity you should add a photo of it to your dating profile.

Of course, only show this if you actually do volunteer for something.  Don’t lie about volunteering. That’s not classy.

If you don’t volunteer, now you have a good reason.  It certainly helps meet women but the best benefits are that you’re “giving back”, “making a difference”, and “strengthening your community” among other things.
